Ramblin' Road...

Hang on friends, I'm about to begin ramblin' all the way to nowhere.

This afternoon it was rainy and cool, so the kids and I made some chocolate chip cookies. Most of you know that I don't like chocolate. Not one bit, and yes, I know, that is extremely odd. But I do make chocolate chip cookies with, and for my family. Though I have an aversion to chocolate, I do NOT have an aversion to chocolate chip cookie dough (sans chips, of course) so I helped myself to a couple of big spoonfuls. It was yummy, but I can pretty much set my watch for 20 minutes, and when the time has elapsed, I'm in a sugar coma. Seriously...I crash so hard and so fast that I usually have to lie down. It happens without fail, but yet I keep eating cookie dough. Wonder if I'll ever learn.

Yesterday morning, I got up early and went hiking with a friend. It was a great hike, but I am SO SORE today that I can hardly walk. I don't know what I did to exert myself so much but I'm wondering if my knees and hips will ever recover. I think I'm getting o-l-d.

I told myself this morning that no matter what I was going to sit down at some point this afternoon and pull out my scrapbook stuff. I've been to 2-3 crops this year and haven't done one single page. Not one. I end up talking and eating and laughing and watching other people crop. Anyway, it's after 4pm and I've yet to pull my stuff out. I blame the sugar coma. Maybe later tonight (or tomorrow, or Friday).

Most people don't know that my hair is naturally curly. I bought my first CHI flat iron about six years ago and fell in love with it's ability to beautifully straighten my crazy-wavy-hair. The CHI is amazing!!! Every once in awhile though, usually in the summer, I give my hair a break and let it go curly. This photo is for my friends who don't believe me when I tell them that I have curl. Voila!...now you have proof! (Joanne, the "V" in Voila! was especially for you). If you think my hair is not super curly, you're right, and that's because our humidity is only about 5% today.

Oh, oh, oh...
We were at Glen Eyrie again this weekend. I've been there more in the last few months than I have in the last few years! A friend of ours wrote a book that came out last week and we went to the release party on Sunday afternoon. As we were leaving I made John drive all over Glen Eyrie looking for the bighorn sheep. We were almost to the gate when I spotted them behind the welcome house. SO EXCITING!! John stopped and the kids and I got out and took some pictures. I was beyond thrilled. They are such amazing creatures, and I am completely fascinated by them. We counted over 20 in the herd, including one baby.

Aren't they beautiful?

I keep meaning to mention that if you've ever tried to add my blog to your google reader and get a message saying there is no feed available, I have a solution. Stephanie figured this out a couple of months ago, and it seems to work. Here's what you need to do...
1. Click "Add Subscription"
2. In pop up box, paste: http://www.lifeat7000feet.com/feeds/posts/full
3. Click "Add"
That should do it. Thanks, Stephanie.

Enjoy your evening!

Cute hair~ I've been looking at the flat irons for awhile. I've heard a lot about the Chi but was seriously wondering the price tag. LOL So it's that good huh?

I love the curly hair too! It looks adorable on you! And thanks for the feed info... you are now in my google reader!

In the interest of full disclosure my computer whiz husband is the one who figured it out. = )

Cute hair. You should wear it curly more often.

Your hair looks really cute curly!! Mine is the exact same way and I let it go curly sometimes in the summer, too!

Your hair looks great! Why do you straighten it?

My hair is naturally curly too. Add in some humidity and mine can look like a dandelion.

I like your random posts. I did one this afternoon myself. It doesn't take quite as much thought to do one of these. ;o)

Have a great rest of your week, Mer.

Love and hugs,

Diane

What a perfect time to come across your blog because I was going to add you to my reader & now it will be easy. Yay!

I had a roommate who didn't like chocolate. I couldn't get that through my head. So being the generous person that I am, I would always offer to share my chocolate with her. And she would always reply, "No thanks, I don't like chocolate."

You probably get that a lot, huh? :-)

Your naturally curly hair is adorable, Mer! I'd wear it that way all the time, it's so cute.

I've seen bighorns in the mountains and the amazing thing about them is how they can climb absolutely anything, at any slope, and stand there like it's a peace of cake.

We should form an "I don't like chocolate" club. You and me and Diane J. could be the charter members. We're pretty rare, but it makes me feel a little more normal when someone else confesses to the same freakish taste. Everyone out here thinks we're weird. :-)

I do, however, like peaceful cake. Sigh. I can't believe I spelled piece that way. Night night.

I really like chocolate, but I prefer my chocolate chip cookies with very few chips. If I had my way the dough would not contain any chips (I do not eat raw cookie dough but my family does).

I agree with everyone I love your hair like that and also think you should it wear it that way more often. You look so refreshed and relaxed in that picture.

I loved your random post.

Love chocolate chip cookies...don't like cookie dough.

I have a scrap book I've been attempting to finish (I'm about 6 pages in) from a trip to New Orleans. *sigh* the trip was two years ago. ;) Tomorrow sounds good...lol.

What is a feed?

Thank you for that, Meredith! I will just mention that that's how it's spelled for everyone wondering. There's no "wa-la"--NOT A WORD!

(For everyone else, that's just one of my huge pet peeves!)

So, question... Do you dry your hair straight and then flat iron it, or do you use the iron on your hair when it's curly? Mine does better if I dry it somewhat flat first.

Can't wait to see you later this morning!!!

I like the curly hair too! For someone with lifeless, straight, zero body hair, curls are much coveted!

And thanks for the tip on adding you to my reader - I couldn't figure out why on earth it wouldn't add you!

Mine's wayy curly. I don't have a chi, but I'm slowly getting there! I have a knock off... not near as good

It's nice having a hair alternative! Madeline's curls fell out a good bit when we were there, it was so dry. So I know exactly what you mean.

Darling picture of you! I think you look great both ways. My hair is wavy in Seattle, fairly straight in CO, and frizzy in the South. That about sums it up, I think.

I have a knock off flat iron. Should probably upgrade...one day.

Luuurve the bighorned sheep. They are so majestic. Random thought (for a random post): I was raised in Ft. C. which is "ram" country. One year for Christmas, I got a little ram, and my mom named him Nester after a cheesy, but tear-jerking clay-mation Christmas Special about a donkey named Nester. Of course Nester's mother dies...*sigh*

Come scrap with me...I need to get going again. Especially since I just bought so much new stuff in April.

I'm just so proud that I already knew your hair was curly. I'm also jealous beacuse with each pregnancy mine has gotten straighter. I don't even bother doing it curly, and I live in 100% humidity...so sad... Anyway, you look great with curly or straight!!

Thanks for the ideas on organizing my mess!! I've gathered up some Ziplocs, but they're still sitting where they were Monday...

You have beautiful hair!!

So good to see you today, Mer.

Did you know? I pumped some gas into my car at the Conoco near Joanne's house and waited and waited and waited for it to fill (it was very slow). Then it overfilled. $15 worth of gas on the ground--arg!

I, too, have been "meaning" to get out my scrapbook stuff since summer started. As a mom, I don't think you ever get caught up, but I am so behind right now it is pitiful!
Maybe we can encourage each other to do it this weekend!!!

Cute, Cute hair! I've been letting mine go wavy a bit this summer too. It's just so much easier, especially if you remember the AR humidity. :)
