The Sunday People

Last night we were eating dinner together and talking about what's on the calendar this week--book club, meetings, time with friends, a youth activity for Will, etc. The kids were begging me to take them to the library after school today because they're having a party. Our local library was named "The Best" in Colorado for 2008 and the party this afternoon is for all patrons. I think my kids really want to go because they're serving cake, ice cream, and punch!

Anyway, we were talking about our library and how much we love it. Every Sunday afternoon, we load up and make a family visit. We know all the staff by name, and believe it or not they know us too. The librarian working the desk yesterday looked up, saw my family, and said with a smile, "Oh, it's The Sunday People". That cracked me up!

What can I say, we're creatures of habit!

I love it! What a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. We love our library and know all the children's librarians...many of the others recognize us.

What a great family tradition! We love going to the library too. How fabulous to have a top ranked library!! The girls just got home from school and are talking about the book fair that is being held at school this week. They're so excited! We go tomorrow and they already have their books picked out!

I think that's really charming! (I don't know if "charming" is really the word that fits, but it's what first came to mind...) Your kids will always remember that and that's pretty special!

Oh, my goodness. Are you sure you're not our family? We go nearly every week, too. Big takes a stack of books on each trip to Shanghai--for the plane and for those nights when Chinese TV or those few American news channels just don't do it for him. :)

Hey, I'd go for cake n' ice cream, too! lol

And at this stage, if we were to all troop into a library, I fear the reaction would be more along the lines of UH OH!!! Maybe when they're a bit older. :)

I love the library! So do my kids. They get really excited when we pull in the parking lot.

We frequent the library and love the story hour with "J" but I'm envious of you having the best in the state...wow! You know ours doesn't compare to that but it's better than nothing.

Hey, if you didn't already have a blog name, you could TOTALLY call it The Sunday People.

We've been to our library in Bastrop twice this week, but they may cringe a bit when they see us coming because of our last visit. I had to pay a few bills online since our internet wasn't set up yet at home, and my natives got a little restless. :-) I hope we redeem ourselves on our next visit!

The only place that knew me (an my order) in MS was Bops, the frozen custard place. I pull up one night - I only went once a week, really - and the guy says, "kid-sized mocha choca ya-ya, right?"
How embarassing!
