Dull as dishwater...

I just realized that I haven't posted anything in almost three days. That's probably because there just isn't much going on around here.

The kids and I had a very lazy weekend. John had to go to New Orleans on business, so we totally vegged. We didn't leave the house except to go water our neighbors' plants and feed their frog and chickens. Do you know what frogs eat? They eat live baby crickets. Wanna know what I bought at Petsmart today? 20 live baby crickets. Ugh. Thank goodness I don't have to touch them. I just take Will over there with me when it's time to feed the frog. And the chickens? Yep, that's his job too. Ewwwww.

Since John was gone all weekend, he stayed home with us today. He worked most of the morning, but went with us to run some errands this afternoon, and helped me cook dinner this evening. I love it when he's home. We had the BEST day.

Abbey has been begging for another pet since she found that frog in Arkansas. She had her heart set on a turtle, but I read that they carry salmonella and was able to talk her out of a turtle and into a fish. She and Sarah each got a betta fish today, and named them Sunset and Stella. Sarah originally named hers Hope, which I thought sounded great with Stella, but while we were eating dinner, she decided to change his name to Sunset because the colors of her fish look like the colors in the sky when the sun is going down. Makes sense.

See, it's dull as dishwater around here.

Betta fish - good choice. I liked mine because he was pretty low maintenance and he lived for about 5 years, which is pretty long for a betta.

I love it when my hubby is home with us too...makes the day a little brighter!

You just described my weekend and morning. Sometimes dull and predictable are wonderful!

Justin and I felt a little like celebrities being mentioned on the blog last week. We love you guys too!

Thought about you again Sat. at the local bookstore/movie rental place. I have been wanting to rent The Waitress starring Keri Russell and found a previous viewed copy to buy for $1.99. Of course I bought it and if for some reason I don't like it, I'll send it your way. :)

My kids are at camp--hallelujah and praise God in heaven--it doesn't get much duller around here than that!

However, I was able to demolish and reconstruct areas of quilt and scrapland so that they are viable for actual...quilting and scrapping soon. :) That's something you can't do with kids coming in and out constantly.

I miss them, and I will sure look forward to picking them up on Thur a.m. (and watching my dtr be baptized in the lake), but for now...a much needed break on all sides. :) And it's Bible camp--full of all the with whom I love for them to spend time. All good.

But dull.

Hi Meredith,
I love weekends like these...well, thankfully no live crickets or chickens on my end ;) We have Midnight (our Betta)...we lost Captain Barbossa Sparrow Long in our move last December (yep, that's what our son named that fish) and we have a hermit crab...both VERY low maintenance!

Yep, that's us. Gettin' a little too veggy around here.

I like those dull weekends every once in awhile. And you always write in such a way to make them sound interesting! My sister's iguana/dragon/lizard eats crickets and their ball python eats mice! They raise mice to feed the python. EWWWW!!!

Just don't put the fish IN the dull dishwater, and you'll be fine.

Sometimes dull is the way to go ;)! You will have to take pictures of the little fish to share!

Your weekend sounded better than mine! LOL I am alone so things are usually dull at my place....except for my cats, all 33 of them!!! I have my hands full with them, but they are good company for me.

My kids are grown and are 42 and 43 now, I am divorced the past 10 years, so my cats are my life now. Dull? You betcha it's dull, compared to what my life had been. You just have to find the good things in each day, and THAT I do! It sure beats the alternative! LOL

Have a good week!

Most little girls like puppies and kittens and maybe parakeets. Nope. MY little girls liked Pacman frogs.

I bought a lot of live crickets. The biggest problem was storing them. You know how ONE cricket chirping somewhere in your house can drive you nuts?

Try fifty of the little suckers. Ugh.
