Please...let me bore you to tears with more hiking pictures

Yesterday, my friend and her daugher and I hiked Eagle Peak again. Call me crazy, but it was even more enjoyable the second time! Still challenging--up AND down--but a beautiful, invigorating hike. I took my camera this time, and captured these amazing pics. This is what most of the trail looks like...lots of rock climbing...and very steep. The trail flattens out near the top for a few hundred feet in this aspen grove. So pretty! And the grove is filled with Columbine. Columbine is the state flower of Colorado. Isn't it gorgeous?

After you pass through the aspen grove, the trail gets really rocky and you basically have to scramble up the rock for about a quarter mile to the top. It's worth the burn! Check out these stunning views!

This is the geological marker at the top...it didn't say what our elevation was, but it's well over 9000 feet.

That's Pikes Peak behind me! A mere 5000 feet higher than the peak we climbed today. We can do it!!!

AWESOME!!!

you know the geological marker? you may know that you can purchase mini ones to pin to your backpack or whatever. i bought a couple during our summer trip last year to commemorate places that we hiked. Pikes Peak gift shop did not have any when we were there in April....i hope to go on line to find one though.
all that to say, you should find one for eagle peak!

Don't apologize for pictures that beautiful.

Personally, I'm encouraged to see all those trees. I thought I'd have to give up forests if I moved to Colorado. That's one more obstacle knocked down....

Beautiful. You can never get enough of the mountains. Nothing wrong with hiking the same place twice.

So breathtaking! You rock on being able to do that twice in so short a time span. I guess that's what will get you ready for Pikes Peak!

I enjoyed seeing all your pics from your hike! What awesome views you have in CO (I'm a little jealous) The Columbine is a very pretty flower. The Aspen grove reminded me of the hikes we would take at Glorieta.

Way to go Meredith!!:o)
