Wednesday Happies

1. My kids make me happy. Yesterday Sarah and I went shopping. She had some gift cards from her birthday that she wanted to spend and we had a fun afternoon together. We were at the mall (I've given up on my resolve to stay away. Been more times than I care to count.) and she spied the toys that her brother and sister were on a quest to find last weekend. She used her OWN money to buy one for each of them and surprised Will and Abbey with them after dinner. She had more fun doing that for them than she did buying stuff for herself. She was giddy with joy. It is a beautiful thing when your kids love each other and show it in tangible ways.

2. I also found a new comforter set that I am in love with! It was on sale for $19.99--for a queen set--that's my kind of bargain! I've been wanting to re-decorate our bedroom for awhile but I'm not one to spend a lot of money on that kind of stuff. Finding the perfect comforter set on sale is a happy thing!

3. I bought these flowers and this vase early in the summer and they still make me happy every day!

4. John has been working from home a lot this summer. I didn't like it at first which really surprised me, but I've grown to love it. Just knowing he's around and can join us for lunch or I can find him and give him a smack on the lips makes me happy!

5. Reading makes me happy too. Not long ago, a friend recommended The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin and I'm almost finished with the book. It's fascinating. And challenging. Anyone read it?

6. Laughing makes me happy. Or does being happy make me laugh? I think it works both ways.

7. The mountains make me happy! So does living in Colorado in the summer. I ran to the store last night and the temp sign when I was driving home at 7pm said 71 degrees. I know you guys in the South (everywhere, really) are SWELTERING. And I'm sorry. Come visit!

8. Lists of ten things make me happy but I'm going to have to end on a discordant note because I'm out of time!

Hope your Wednesday is a crazy-happy one.

That is soooo sweet of Sarah to think of her brother and sister like that. Goes to show, giving is so much better than receiving!! :)

This post made me happy! What a sweet girl Sarah is to buy things for her siblings because she loves them.

And yay for finding a comforter set for $19.99. That IS a bargain! Do we get to see pictures of the bedroom re-do?

Every time I see pictures from Colorado I want to move there. Right now! Fortunately for us we are in the middle of winter so our highs are only in the 70's and lows in the 50's. Perfect weather.

Hi Meredith. Thanks for visiting my blog. Yes, we live in Springdale, AR. We love it here, but yes... we are sweltering! Your 71 degrees makes me a little jealous. So glad to get introduced to your blog! I love another fun, loves-to-laugh mom!! : )

I think I need to go repent for coveting...Our heat index right now is 104. I just made some more snow cone syrup, we're gonna need it today!

Um...I have 3 boys. Sarah can have her pick. Is she into younger men? Because with a heart like that, I want her to be my daughter-in-law. Precious girl.

I think I'm moving there. Cool summers will make me happy, too. I think this heat is making me grumpy.

I like your flowers, too. I always like a little centerpiece on a table. Sarah--how sweet!!!!

I'm with you about the hubby working from home thing. For me, I get a lot of feast or a lot of famine. Generally, after getting used to it, I lurve the feast. Famine...well...I guess I'll just stop and say how grateful I am for his job.

Your happies made me smile.

what a great happy list! i'd take your 71 degrees; it's been above the century mark here and still in the low 90's at 10pm.

the happiness project book is on my nightstand to be read.

Yes I'm sure it's hard to avoid the mall with a bunch of teenagers. Or preteens, as the case may be.

I still love that vase! What was it, hobby lobby?

our heat index yesterday was 108. Nice huh? At least I can walk outside and do a toxin detox in under 60 seconds.

I love to see the sweet spirit of children.

I love the flowers. I just got some from Ikea that sit on my desk and they make me smile.

I also love that Tim works at home. It does take some adjustments but the benefits make it worth it.

I seem to love lots today! Thanks for sharing.

What a sweet thing for Sarah to do. And what a great deal you got on that comforter set!

your happies are contagious!

(that comforter sale was a great find, by the way)

also, know that you can't just go throwing around those temps in the 70s and invitations to come visit without expecting me to eventually show up on your front porch. it's SO STINKING HOT HERE already. your home sounds heavenly.

not sure I'd love my hubs home all the time either... though I'm certain we'd hit a groove and it would be pretty neat to find out.

xo, mer.

I'm searching for a new comforter as well.

My cat has decided to sharpen his claws on my old one.

That does not make me happy.
