Question of the Week...

What is ONE object in your home that makes you feel happy every time you see it?

It's hard for me to choose just one, but today it's my cheery red tea kettle that sits on my stovetop.

What about you? What's your ONE object?

That is nearly impossible to narrow down, and it also depends on the season!! Right now, though, I'd have to say that new leather shoe bin by my front door, because it's so neat and orderly looking. The old one was wicker and dirt would always fall through the cracks and just made for a messy entryway (plus the shoes would continually spill out over the top). Boring, I know. But it's making me happy today. :)

Something that makes me happy is the old-fashioned dresser in my baby's room. It was mine growing up as well, and it has been in the family for I don't know how long...it's over 100 years old. It is creaky and scarred and shows its age, but I love it.

Oh this is so hard to narrow down!!!! I would have to say it would be the Pumpkin Spiced Candle Leigh Ann just gave me. It reminds me of her and of my favorite time of year...FALL!

Hmmmm. That would have to be these composite photos I had done of my kids. They were the only "professional" photos I've ever had done, and they cost a fortune, but they so perfectly capture each child at that particular moment in time. I love them.

My comfy overstuffed chair with ottoman. Every time I sit in it, it's like a huge hug.

The painting that hangs over the fireplace. We bought it from an artist in Piazza Navona in Rome. The scene is of a villa in Tuscany with cyprus trees, a field of poppies a gorgeous sunset in the background.

It instantly takes me back to our time in Rome and Florence two years ago. Then I begin to dream about returning someday and that makes me happy.

The coffee pot- although technically we own 4. We're a little obsessive.
One in the kitchen, one in the family room/MIL suite, a Senseo pod brewer for my room, and a french press for my husband.

Mine would have to be the pencil portrait that a friend of mine did of my kids. I love it. It is beautifully framed in my living room and every time I see it I smile. She did an amazing job on it, and that she spent so much time on something as a gift for me is very special.

Mine is my apron collection! They make me feel very "homemaker"! =)

My Grandmother's Curio. My Uncle hauled it all the way out here for me shortly after she died. I love having my pretty things in there like she did.

A large green chair in the corner that beckons me to come apart and rest awhile from the day's distractions.

Not really an object but...I'd have to say my puppy. She follows me around the house like my shadow and never fails to make me smile! And no one is as happy to see me when I come in the door...whether I've been gone 5 hours or 5 minutes!

My hand-sculpted little angel figurines that bear the image of my children made for me by my best friend. I LOVE them.

My pillow. I don't get a whole lot of sleep around here, so everytime I see my pillow it makes me happy because I know that sleep is near. I even take it out of town with me:)

My sewing machine. :)

Great Question of the Week, Mer. I agree that it's difficult to narrow down, and that's what makes this fun.

My old quilts. I love to curl up on the couch and wrap up in one...especially when my windows are open and the cool breeze is blowing in.

I have an old baby-sized quilt that my sister made for my other sister when she had her first baby. I inherited it when my oldest was born. It's almost 28 years old now. It rests on the back of my leather couch and I use it during "curling up" time.

But, I also love to look at my son's senior portraits I had done into 16x20s and hang in my living room.

Ok, I know this is lame, but I would have to say my bed. I love sleep, and although I don't work a 9-5 job per say, I am still always sooooo tired. Several times during the day, in between loads of laundry, or cleaning the kitchen, or even when I get home from a day I have subbed at the school, I find my bed so inviting...even if it's only for 5 short minutes!

The yellow paint on our walls! I debated between yellow and beige and am so thankful I went with yellow. No matter the weather or season, it is a "happy" color.

My dining room table. It is the one place in the house that is always clean. I find comfort in know I can take a book or the mail to the DR and sit down without moving stuff out of the way.

Today it is Ella Grace's new bed! I love the fluffy comforter and all the pillows. It makes me want to jump right in!

My wedding picture! Next month will be our 1 year anniversary! We were both married before and divorced. It reminds me that GOD is faithful! He brought me through some hard times and led me to an amazing man! The picture includes Ryan (my stepson) and my 3 (Alex, Drew & Autumn)! All of us together!

This is a very difficult question. I'd say, the one thing (out of many) that makes me very happy everytime I see it, is the photograph my friend and I took together in school in 2003 :)

That beautiful automatic timed coffee pot that waits for me at 5:30 every morning.

Following close behind is my favorite coffee mugs. But since you only asked for one thing....
