I'll just hit the highlights...

This week has been busy. We have lots of stuff going on, and having company seems to exaggerate the busy-ness. Not only am I busy, I'm tired. I can't tell you how much I am looking forward to this weekend. We have absolutely nothing planned, except rest.

Here are some highlights from our week so far...

Ummm, more snow is in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow. Seriously, this is just NOT fun anymore. We're supposed to get 4-8 inches, and we're under a winter storm watch. Ugh.

I'm usually excited about the chance for a snow day but my kids have some pretty big things going on at school tomorrow, and if we have a snow day, those events get canceled or rescheduled, and I really, really need them to happen tomorrow. So, I'm praying that we have school, and my kids are praying that we don't. Tonight, we're a conflicted household.

**No school closure this morning. I should be happy, but I keep watching them show cars sliding around on the ice that has coated the roads in our little town, and the promise of the storm intensifying, and now I'm really conflicted.

Moving right along...
John and I had a coffee date one morning this week before he went in to work. Except we had tea instead of coffee. We went to a new tea house that opened down the street, and can I just say that their chai latte was absolutely to die for! I believe the first words out of my mouth were, "Oh my goodness, that is the best chai I've EVER tasted, and from this moment on Starbucks is SO yesterday." Friends, it was that good. (Holly and Joanne--we need to meet there very soon!)

On a completely unrelated note...
Will's teacher had a baby a couple of months ago, and just recently returned to the classroom. I like his teacher (and her husband) very much...they're both adorable, and just so, so sweet. She asked me this week if I wanted to watch their baby one day next week because her babysitter had a conflict. Tough decision. I don't really consider myself a "baby" person, but I felt honored that she would ask, and I really didn't have anything scheduled for the day she needed help, so I said yes. It's been awhile since I've watched a baby...I'll keep ya posted.

And on another completely unrelated note...
Abbey invited four little friends to her birthday party a couple of weeks ago. Of the four girls that came, three of them gave her a Webkinz. I know it's a hugely popular toy, but we just haven't gotten into them. Probably because it means my kids need to be on the computer to play, and I don't want them in front of yet another screen. Because she got three of them though, we got Abbey set up and she's been playing a little bit each day. I, however, have been playing a lot. The Cash Cow game is so addictive. I cannot stop. And Abbey has 1000+ points to show for my efforts. I will not even tell you how long I sat and played that game this afternoon. It's shameful.

Still unrelated...
Our friends that are staying with us this week gave us a new game this afternoon--The Game of Life. We played it with them this evening, and had a blast. My kids loved that it was electronic (they love gadgets), and they caught on very quickly. I'm sure if we have a snow day tomorrow, we'll all play again. And we'll probably make some cookies and have a Harry Potter movie marathon. It does sound like a pretty great day, doesn't it?

Mer,

Thanks for checking in. We're supposed to get snow tomorrrow, too, so I feel your pain.

Speaking of chai, I posted a recipe on that today! I made my own mix from those spices friends brought back from the Middle East.

Hope it's not a snow day, and that you'll have a relaxing weekend!

Okay, the webkinz thing cracked me up. My oldest has 6 webkinz, but the obsession has never hit her that much. She checks on them once in awhile. My best friend is completely obsessed with them and plays with her daughters constantly. It cracks me up.

I love the newsy posts! I enjoy reading about people's day to day life.

Sloan's girls love their Webkinz and love the on-line world and the school. Your obsession with Cash Cow sounds like my obsession with Toon Town this past summer. I played to more than anyone else in the house.

I hope the kids made it to school and that y'all will not get as much snow as expected. Sorry it won't go away.

Enjoy the rest of your busy week. :o)

Sounds like you are having a fun week. Playing games with kids is so fun isn't it?

It's finally spring here. I'm going to try to get out and cut my 3 ft long grass- it didn't rain much yesterday, and it hasn't started yet today.
We should check out life. My eldest is hooked on Monopoly. The only problem is that everyone else in the house HATES it....

In keeping with the theme:

We're under a Winter Storm Warning from until Saturday morning. We might get 8 inches or more.

Sigh.

My kids haven't discovered the Webkinz either. Like you, I don't really want to give them another excuse to sit in front of a screen.

But I'm sure it's just a matter of time.

Mike and I are both addicted to Webkinz. We use the excuse that Rebecca's too little to be able to get any "cash" to buy stuff, but really...there are tons of fun games there! We're not the only ones, either...

the paragraph about webkinz made me laugh out loud. our daughter was given one in Jan. and we too have helped her earn cashkinz by playing games for her. now, every once in a while she'll tell me she needs to feed her webkinz.

on another note...i am sorry you are sick of snow, but i am hoping for an eensy weensy bit of the white stuff in a couple of weeks:)!

Oh, I bet you are getting spring fever. I am too, I would like to see the sky again. It is always gray!

I think spring is confused - the weather out here in Grand Junction is stupid - cold, cold and rainy.

Taking care of a tiny baby comes right back to you - I was a little afraid I'd lost my touch when Cameron was born. Nope. It felt as natural as can be.

Speaking of Cameron, he's completely addicted to the Fisher Price game site and now some new computer game HE found (we have no idea how he found it) called bomber bombs. He's two. TWO.

And you're right - those little kid games are totally addictive. Not that I ever play bomber bombs. And try to blow up pink bombs. And blue bombs. And.....

I talked to my mom today and she told me about the snow.

On a happier note, I'm going to be there for a week in May! Maybe I'll have to look up your new chai place!

meredith,

just found your blog - i clicked over from the simple wife - and can't wait to read more. we lived in colorado springs for 5 years, just moved this past january. and right now i am so envious of the snow, just a hint of it would be lovely! i was looking at your what i'm reading now widget(?) and saw the beautiful ache and thought it might be good. and after reading your profile and seeing you find peace like a river to be a must read i have all kinds of confidence in your book suggestion.

enjoy the weather while it's there, because summer will come!

Pete can not stop playing with Sarah's webkinz either - so don't feel bad. He even bought two for Emily (2.5) and since she can't play with them he has to check on the every once in a while. :)

Okay, Emma just got a webkinz, too. I was trying to keep them a secret - for the same reason...one more techno thing around the house. Anyway, she gets to get online if she does a good job with school or chores. We haven't had much time with it yet - I will definitely have to check out the cash cow, though - NOT that I need to be addicted to anything else!!

I am so behind in posting comments but I didn't want to to let this one go because:
1. I too am a Cash Cow addict. when I read that in your post I thought "She and I must have been separated at birth."

2. I think it is ironic how you wrote several weeks ago how there hadn't been very many snow days for your kids last year, but this year they came on days when you really needed them to be in school. This makes me laugh, because I know you enjoy a good snow day to have them at home (as would I). I totally feel your frustration there! Why won't the weather systems just cooperate with "the Schedule!!!". ;)
