I wasn't feeling stressed until today...

I had the best day yesterday!

The girls were out of school, and and we had some errands to run. I debated skipping the errands and staying home in our pjs but I'd heard some yucky weather was rolling in and decided to just get out and get it DONE.

I needed some things at the mall. Most of you know that I despise the mall. I've been there twice this week. That's more than I've been this entire year. It was quick and painless though...just had to exchange a few things at Old Navy and pick up a couple gifts at another store. Thank goodness the gifts weren't for the girls since they were with me!

While in Old Navy, I found some great pj pants for myself--$6! And fleece tops (to wear with those pj pants) for $5. Merry Christmas to me!

After the mall, we stopped by Starbucks to meet my sweet friend, Tiffany, who is driving with her family from Dallas to Idaho (29 hours!) for Christmas. They didn't have long to stop, but it was great to chat with her. She is one of the most encouraging (and real) people I've ever met. Abbey and Sarah and her daughter, Jaden, spent some time coloring Strawberry Shortcake pages and after awhile they went outside with her boys, found some snow leftover from earlier this week and had fun making and throwing snowballs! were a bright spot in my day!!! Please thank your husband for his patience, and for taking the time to stop (as if you coud resist Starbucks--ha!).

We left there to meet John at REI. We both needed some new SmartWool socks. If you get cold feet (very punny, I know) then you NEED to check out these socks. They are the only kind I have worn since I moved here five years ago. They're pretty pricey, but I consider it an investment (and buy them on sale). I picked out these two pair yesterday. It might be odd to write an entire paragraph about SmartWool socks, but honestly, my feet are NEVER cold when I wear them. And I live in a place where it gets cold. So...there. Maybe the SmartWool people will magically find my blog and outfit me with socks for the rest of my life. If not, I'll just keep blogging about how much I love them, and keep buying them and encouraging you to also!

We made a quick trip to Chik-Fil-A (love that place) and to the bank and post office and then we returned home to make our gingerbread house! I thought that was one of those traditions we might not have time for this year and just kept walking past the kits at Walmart and Michael's. Earlier this week I ran to Walmart to pick up some last minute stuff for Brownies and saw the kits marked (way) down. I couldn't resist grabbing one. The girls LOVED it and had such fun decorating to their heart's delight. (Will is SO over gingerbread houses.) Cute, huh?
I read this post after I had already bought the kit, but I think next year we may try making it this way.

Had a fun trip to the mailbox yesterday too! Lots of cards from some of our favorite people. AND, I even had a package from one of my blog friends, Gretchen. She sent me this cute scarf she made. Don't you LOVE it? I wore it all evening. And will be wearing it today too! Thank you, friend!

After dinner, I worked on our Christmas cards (hoping to mail them Monday before we leave) while watching Cheaper By the Dozen with the fam. That movie is just so sweet. I love it.

It was a lovely day, and I wasn't feeling a bit of stress...

UNTIL THIS MORNING. I'm trying not to freak out about all that needs to get done before we leave. My mantra today is this: "It will all get done, it will all get done, it will all get done. And if it doesn't, then it doesn't."

Easier said than done.

Happy Weekend to you!

Sounds like you had a great day yesterday. Hearing that you were able to visit with your friend while she was passing through, makes me sad that we won't be in town Tuesday when you drive through. :( I'm so sad....I wish we could have met for just a few minutes! Maybe next time....I'm still trying to talk Kirk into a family vaca to Colorado!

I'm with you on the being stressed. We had our family Christmas this morning, but I'm nowhere close to being ready for all our traveling. I still have SO MUCH TO DO!

It will all get done....It will all get done....

Don't tell my kids, but I finally tossed their gingerbread houses (same kit!) the other day. They were looking mightily picked over.

I'll have to tell my mom about those socks...

Yes, IT WILL ALL GET DONE! Here's to no fretting! :) Have a great trip!

I'll have to check out those socks b/c even though I live in the HOT winter, that's the ONLY cold part of me--my feet!!!!

Of course, this week, I've even turned the air on a couple of times...we're having a warm spell of some sort but it's not right to have a tree twinkling and the AIR on :)!!

Girl, I didn't even know you guys HAD Chik-Fil-A...that's an Atlanta original==Truett Cathy is practically our neighbor (notice I said practically but about 30 minutes from us)....that means I could def. move to CO ;)==btw, Adam says there's a local union (electrical) in Denver, can you imagine if he went to work out there...he was glad that that was at least ONE city I didn't turn my nose up at if we had to move for awhile!! I was like "I KNOW SOMEONE OUT THERE!"....but we'll see!?

What a fun day with the girls...we did smaller versions of g'bread houses today..and JuJu said she made a "Santa Potty" not a house (I guess b/c of the way it ended up being shaped)...girls with older brothers, I tell ya!

Your girls ALWAYS have the SWEETEST smiles on their faces...enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Oh, I know this is turning into an email and not a comment but I've been meaning to ask you:

1. did you ever see Twilight?
2. are you still reading the books??

Me too, Mer. My procrastinating has caught up with me and now I'm hustling to get everything done.

I made 3 batches of butter shortbread last night. I have 12 dozen dog biscuits that have to be done tonight, plus I need to make glazed pecans and meringue pecans either tonight or tomorrow night.

On top of all that I have to make something for Sunday Dinner!

Have a happy, blessed and joyous Christmas and New Year, my friend. :o)

Much Love,

SmartWool socks are gifts this year for my brother, sister-in-law & me! Check out Sierra Trading Post's prices - slimmer variety than REI, but they were at least 50% off!

Have a very merry Christmas with your family!!!

much love,
Jennifer (Baker)

That sounds like a really great day! I'm going to have to check out those socks. My feet are always cold and my kids are always hot! I'm forever telling them to get something on their feet and they're always telling me their feet are hot, sure enough they are.
I am way behind the game. I didn't know you could get a gingerbread house kit. My daughter would LOVE this. I'll have to look and see if I can still find one.
Have fun on your trip. Merry Christmas!
