Gladitude Monday

My friend, Gretchen, does a blog post every Monday of happy things that put some GLAD in her ATTITUDE. My heart is brimming with happy stuff today so I'm copying her Gladitude Monday idea.

1. Glad that the sun is shining and yesterday's snow is quickly melting. I've only got a few patches left in my yard!

2. Glad that my husband had the day off and we got to spend it together! He was also off on Friday and we had big plans, but just as we were leaving for Co Springs, the school called telling me that Abbey had a fever. (She's fine now, but I was feeling pretty grumpy that our plans got shelved).

3. Glad to have discovered this song (One Thousand Hallelujahs) at church yesterday. Hallelujah is a celebratory word and we refrain from using it during Lent, so One Thousand Hallelujahs was quite appropriate yesterday. Sarah loved it as much as I did and asked if I'd find it on iTunes for her. I did and I've been listening to it over and over. LOVE it.

4. Glad that Coldstone Creamery was open today and that the kids got to redeem their gcs after school.

(Will was there too, but he didn't want to be in the pic. I guess it's a 12-year-old boy thing.)

5. Glad about the sweet conversation with Abbey at breakfast this morning. Every month she asks me to call her something different. In October, she asked me to call her "Pumpkin". In December, she chose "Candy Cane", and this month she decided she'd like to be called "Sunflower". So stinkin' sweet.

6. Glad to have my husband "back" this week. Whew. It was hard living with the lord (lord with a little "l") last week. John played Jesus--one of four--at our church's Easter drama and I had a HUGE time teasing him.
Conversation was pretty fun at our house. I enjoyed singing the following responses (and more) to him and he loved rolling his eyes back at me.
"Have thine own way, lord, have thine own way."
"It's all about you, it's all about you, jesus"
"lord, whatever you ask, I want to obey"
"Draw me close to you..."

7. Glad for the creativity of our church leadership and SUPER glad they sang Chris Tomlin's, "How Can I Keep From Singing" yesterday. Seriously, I think it is THE BEST Easter song EVER.
I was struggling a little bit during our service yesterday. The message was good, the music was good, but I just wasn't connecting with the day, UNTIL I was in line for communion and we started singing this song. I couldn't hold back my tears of gratitude.

How can I keep from singing Your praise?
How can I ever say enough?
How amazing is Your love?
How can I keep from shouting Your name?
I know I am loved by the King
And it makes my heart want to sing

8. Glad for a doubly clean bathroom. I cleaned bathrooms this morning and evidently cleaned one that John cleaned last night. I thought it looked better than normal. (Thanks, J).

9. Glad about some plans that are taking shape for late summer!

10. Glad for laughter. John and I have laughed together a LOT today. So good for our hearts!

Sarah's about to fall off her chair with excitement over that ice cream cone! Too cute. And oh my word, Abbey? Asking you to call her something different every month?! HILARIOUS.

Man.

Snow on Easter EVEN THOUGH you're married to Jesus?

What did you do, Meredith?

OMGosh, I'm laughing at #6. I'll bet after all of your 'lord' wisecracks he's happy to be John again! Those were great btw!

Lurved your list. Your kids are so stinkin cute with their ice cream. Happy that you're married to John again. :) And i totally heart the "How can I keep from singing..." song. It's hard to sing when your face starts to crumple, but I do my best.

Sunflower. Darling.

I'm glad for your list:) What a GREAT list!! I love that song by Chris Tomlin. I love just about any song by him. He has such a heart for worship.

It is so stinkin' sweet all the different names Abbey wants you to call her.

Doubly clean bathroom? Oh I'm so jealous.

Love, love, love your list!

Great list...number 5 made me weepy for some reason...I guess the tenderness of a little girls heart can pull my heart-strings! Names are important, even nicknames!

Laughed out loud at numbers 6 and 7.

And number 9? Me too.

My kids love their nicknames, even though they won't admit it. And I love using them. It's hard to have a mad face at Mom when she's calling you "squash blossom".

Man, I must've been OUT of it yesterday!! Missing texts and posts alike...sheesh...

I LOVED reading your list and joy is truly contagious because I'm happier after reading YOUR list...

Sarah is a girl after my own heart w/ that smile for ice cream...

I think the blog world did a corporate "awwwww" over Abbey's names!! Sooo sweet!

I busted OUT LOUD over your banter with J...

What sweet time y'all got together..I NEED some hubby time desperately!!

Ok, several things...

1) Glad that your 12 year old son doesn't want to be in pictures, because my almost 12 year old son doesn't either! I am paranoid that people will think that I don't love him as much as the other 2 because they are all over my blog, and he rarely is!

2) Wow! John really looks like Jesus!

3) I have NEVER gone to clean the bathroom, only to find that my husband (or anyone else) beat me to it!!!! That alone is worth a post in my book! :)

This is a great list...reminds me to be grateful...I needed that today.

John makes a great "Jesus"....

..and I totally agree with Christi...I doubt I'll ever find someone beat me to cleaning the bathroom at our house...LOL

Amber said...

Really? He beat you to cleaning the bathroom? AMAZING!!!! I think I would be singing, "Have thy own way, lord" all the time if mine cleaned the bathroom!!! :)

Love the names for Abbey...how cute is that!!!???

Glad you are having a happy day, Mer!

Totally laughed at number #6! ...and then I got to the line "Draw me close to you..." hmmmm;)

My two favorites:

Sweet Abbey and her pet names for each month.

The picture of John as Jesus...WOW!

Mer,

I started writing a draft last night, and one paragraph is pretty much a copy of what you said in #7--and it was a different Chris Tomlin song (!) in our service.

Hope to post tomorrow, including updated pix--finally.

Wow! John looks just like Jesus!! haha I love your Gladitude Monday. Great idea!

I can't believe ya'll have had that much snow on Easter! Your kids looked so cute in their Easter outfits. :)

I want to hear that Chris Tomlin song. I love him!!

I love your list -- you make me smile and then laugh.

Your comments to John are especially funny to me. On Easter I was sitting next to my nephew who was home from college. His hair is getting long and he had a little facial hair that is new too. I told him that he is starting to look more and more like Jesus everyday. Right after that, my sister walked into the room as if on cue and asked him if he would say the prayer for dinner. We laughed so hard.

Hi there-
I'm a lurker who just had to comment about your funny comments to your husband when he was playing Jesus. I laughed so hard.

"Have thine own way lord"
"Draw me close to you"
ha ha ha ha...that is really funny.

I'm originally from Wyoming (live in Michigan now) so I always love when you post pretty mountain pictures...there is no place like home. I go back to Wyo. a few times a year to see friends and family. :)

Have a great day!

I have to do this next week! It's so appropriate on Monday, when I'm dragging from the weekend but feeling positive about a new week. I love your list. Your hubby cleans bathrooms?!?! Awesome!
