Happy Birthday, Sarah!

Our sweet Sarah turned 9 last week and we've been celebrating HER all weekend. She has been the "queen" around here for the last several days and she's quite sad that all good things must come to an end. Here's are some photos and some of the highlights of our weekend...

Her birthday started with opening presents from us when she woke up. After all that fun, her daddy took her on a breakfast date...all by herself. She loved that. When they got home from breakfast, I took her to get her ears pierced (her BIG) gift from mom and dad. They look adorable, by the way, and she was so brave...didn't even cry!

She chose California Pizza Kitchen for her birthday dinner and we all enjoyed a very yummy dinner and dessert. And Sarah's best little friend came over later for a sleepover. They had a blast together and are such cute girls...

And then there was her party. She had it at a paint-your-own-pottery place and she had a wonderful time with 5 of her closest friends. The girls each picked out something to paint, and the owner of the store helped Sarah make a birthday plate with her handprint in the middle and all of the guests thumbprints around the edge. A wonderful way to remember her 9th birthday!

We've had a great weekend, but like I said earlier, all good things must come to an end. Happy Birthday, Sarah! We love you, sunshine!

9 year old girls are my favorite. I think I may be a little partial.

Jessica has been wanting her ears pierced lately...we don't usually do anything for "half birthdays", but she'll be 9 1/2 on July 30 and I think we're going to surprise her by taking her to get them pierced, then having a little talk about growing up. They do keep growing up, no matter how many bricks I put on their heads!

What an absolutely perfect way to celebrate a 9th birthday. You're gonna have to go a ways to top that for her 10th. ;o)

My Mama wouldn't let me get my ears pierced until I was in the 8th grade. I thought I was so downtrodden and underprivileged! ALL the other girls had their ears pierced, or so it seemed anyway. Plus a lot of the BOYS had their ears pierced.

I remember when it was a hot topic of discussion - which ear was the "gay" ear if a guy had a pierced ear?? ;-)

Now some guys have BOTH ears pierced, so I don't know what the kids talk about, LOL! :-)

Hi Meredith!

I thought I'd finally get over here and visit you. I love, love your header. It's easy to see you're in love with our beautiful state.

How sweet - letting her get here ears pierced because she nine. A belated happy birthday to her.

I'll never forget when I took Mandy to get her ears pierced. The girl doing the piercing was so nervous, she stapled the rubber glove she was wearing right to Mandy's ear. Poor thing. I would have been a mess but Mandy just sat there while that girl removed the earring holding the glove to her ear and did it all over again.

Ugh.

And I don't want to scare your hubby by leaving another comment but would you please tell him that I cracked completely up when I read, "picante petition." LOL

My 10-year-old daughter is dying to get her ears pierced, but we can't talk her daddy into it. I'd better not let her see this!
