I have some pictures!!!

Oh my word...the Thunderbirds are SO amazing. They were practicing today for AF graduation on Wednesday, and their practice is basically a free air show. I went with my friend whose husband teaches at the Air Force Academy, and she took me some crazy back-way to the stadium (she is my new BFFFFFF!!!). We were planning to just watch it from the parking lot, but the kids ran up the steps to the stadium and discovered the gates were open, so we got to watch from inside! Because they're practicing for Wednesday, they fly right over the stadium. Needless to say, we had an awesome view today! I was pretty ecstatic.

It was very cloudy today, and I learned from another friend that they do a "low show" and a "high show". Today's clouds translated into a low show. I think it was still pretty spectacular.

They're incredibly LOUD when flying overhead, hence, the name Thunderbirds. Abbey had her ears covered much of the time!

Awesome, huh? I'm convinced we live in the coolest place on earth!

Great pictures!! How very cool to be in the stadium, too.

Yep, we do live in the coolest place on earth!

Enjoy your burgers--our ribs and corn on the cob are nearly done.

WOW! What great pictures. I've actually never had a desire to see an air show....until now! Hmmmm, I'll have to see what kind of AFB we have around here!

The air shows are fabulous and well worth seeing if you are near a base. When I was growing up we lived near the Kennedy Space Center (aka the cape) and we would watch the air shows over the river. Beautiful! I'm glad you were able to catch a show!

Seeing the pics brings back wonderful memories as a child being raised in Pueblo. Our dad would take us to see them. I can't wait to get back there next year. I'm so homesick, but I gotta stay focused.
Thanks for sharing.

Ahhh yes ~ love the graduations at "The Zoo." Hubby graduated from the Air Force Academy 19 years ago this coming Saturday (May 31) ~ the Thunderbirds performed, and Donald Rice was the key note speaker. USAFA graduations are spectacular.

I hope you're able to get tickets to a graduation sometime and take the kids. Even better would be if your friend were able to take you to a squadron's "pinning on" ceremony after the graduation. Watching Roger receive his "butter bar" (2nd Lieutenant rank) was one of the best experiences of my life.

Glad you were able to sneak in to a rehearsal. And I agree ~ you do live in the coolest place on earth! :)

Blessings,
Trish

Girl, you weren't just whistlin' Dixie, were you? I'll SAY you got pictures! ;o)

I've seen the Blue Angels on TV but this is the first time I've seen the Falcons. The actual performance can't be any better than the practice, and y'all had front row seats, literally.

It must have taken you forever to add all these pics to Blogger. ;o)

RE: your post before this: Boy do I ever remember the Dick and Jane books! Those are the ones I learned to read with!

Glad y'all are already enjoying your summer vacation. I love the pic of Will and Jack especially. :o)

Love and hugs,

Diane

Love those pictures. I'm convinced that you live in one of the coolest places on earth as well. Have fond memories of the Air Force Academy, Olympic Training campus, Garden of the Gods, Big horned sheep and the list goes on...

You DO live in the coolest place on earth! I am totally wishing I lived there right now. I loved air shows as a kid. When there wasn't an air show to go watch, we used to park near the airport just to watch airplanes land and take off.

Fantastic pictures--and I'm so glad you all had fun. I think the low show is probably what I'd prefer, anyway.

I can't find my blog said...

You must live near the Springs? I'm from just outside of Denver- but CO is the best!! I really miss it- and I can't visit this summer for many reasons so I'm going through withdrawl.
Thanks for visiting!!

VERY cool! I stayed in Pensacola one summer and the Blue Angels would practice along the shore all of the time. That was very neat!

And those kiddos of yours are CUTE!!!

[are you and His Girl sisters?!!]
