From the kitchen...

I don't know what it is about cooler weather that makes me want to cook! I've tried several new recipes lately, and just posted them on my recipe blog. I also posted the recipe for Breast of Chicken Eden Isle that John raved about on his blog last week. Gretchen and Tiffani--you're welcome. It's usually a special occasion recipe since it's super fattening, but since he asked so nicely and I love him so much it's on this week's menu!

Here's some links for you...

Breast of Chicken Eden Isle

Stuffed Green Pepper Soup

Pinto Beans with Bacon, Tomatoes, and Cilantro

Crock-Pot Applesauce

And finally, Apple Pie

You didn't really think I would forget to take a picture of my first homemade pie ever, did you??

Yum! We're going apple picking (if the weather cooperates) next week. Can't wait for a homemade apple pie. BTW, I have one of those PC apple peeler/corer/slicers. I'm always paranoid about slicing my finger on it. I hope your finger is healing. That pie looks yummy! How long did it last at your house?

Oh, my sweet friend...my family thanks you...let's see spaghetti, chicken casserole and tacos on a bi-weekly rotation have been set free (at least for a little while!)

AND--my humble blogging baker...you NEVER mentioned precious fall leaves that would be resting ever so golden-y atop that pie I've heard so much about...shout it from the rooftop, sister..not only did you suffer injury but you managed to take your pie from regular to Southern Living in the drop of a leaf!!! I'm so impressed!

**on a totally different note...somehow I manage to use the word precious in every post I leave you!! ;)

That's a beautiful pie for your first try!

I love pies, but my favorite pie is chicken pot pie! AS a matter of fact I am going to make one this friday for a get together!

I had no idea you had a recipe blog. Where have i been?

Going over to see that one now!

I love that you try new recipes for me! I added crockpot lasagna to the menu last year and just found 3 new recipes. Do you think you could make the soup in the crock pot?

I also like to cook more in cooler weather. I think it's about not sweating due to a hot stove/kitchen

I can't believe this is your first time to make a homemade pie! Love the leaves on top! I made a pecan pie 2 years ago and was very proud. I should have taken a picture b/c I haven't made one since then.

That is one pretty pie! Are you sure it's your first homemade one?

Bet it won't be your last homemade apple pie now that you know it's not nearly as hard to make as you thought it would be.

Love Chicken Eden Isle!

The Cripple Creek pictures are wonderful! And I do believe that's a brown derby in that last pic, LOL. ;o)

Love and hugs,

Diane

Oooh, that pie turned out so perfectly...nice job! And you even did the little extra work to make the decorative leaves.

Ok, I'm going to check out your recipe blog now...

Your pie looks awesome. I try to tell people how easy pies are to make but they don't believe it till they try. And that Breast of Chicken Eden Isle recipe - my mom used to make that and it was delicious. I can't get the jar/canned beef here.....I may can just leave it out.

Have a great week!

Oh, MERCY, I'm thankful for a recipe blog from sweet Mer. Like Tiffani, I'm sure my family will enjoy the change in rotation.

Onward Ho! See you at the other bloggy. :)

I'm highly impressed at all your culinary skilss, Mer. What I may be more impressed with though is that your children will eat all of those dishes. We don't get much past spaghetti and chicken nuggets around here.
