I'm running out of ideas for catchy titles for random posts...

It's Friday and I'm so happy! I actually have a day at home and that thrills me. This week has been busier than I had hoped so I'm very thankful to have nowhere to be until much later this afternoon. I do have a huge to-do list, but I'm excited to have more than an hour or two to knock out some big tasks. Don't even think of calling me today because I'm not going to let myself be distracted by the phone, or the computer for that matter!

Before I turn off the computer though, I have a couple of things on my mind.

I got a haircut yesterday. What is it about haircuts that just boost my mood? You can't really tell from this picture, but I got Rachel, my stylist, to give me some long layers and we both agreed that it made my look a little more "sassy". I love it! I can't wait to style it myself later today. I always love doing my hair for the first time after a haircut. I guess it matters if you like your haircut, but I haven't had a bad one in 3 years because Rachel rocks!

It has been getting really cool here at night lately...low 30s...and making me realize that winter is definitely on it's way. I think we're supposed to get a taste of it this weekend. I heard something about highs in the 40s tomorrow. And a chance of snow. I'll be snuggling under my new flannel sheets this weekend. Flannel sheets make me h-a-p-p-y! We needed a new set and Kohl's was having a huge sale this week so I bought some. I can't tell you how much I've looked forward to crawling into bed the last two nights.

I also bought some new dishtowels. My other ones had holes in them. No joke. I think I bought them after Abbey was born--she's 6.5. They were shameful. John kept telling me to buy new ones, and I wanted to, but I have a hard time finding dishtowels that I like. They all seem to have some sort of waxy coating on them these days which keeps them from being absorbent. I end up spreading water around instead of drying it up. What's up with that? But I found some...the brand is Food Network...and I'm loving them!!! Pretty colors too, huh?

Well, this weekend, my high school classmates will be living it up at our 20 year high school reunion. I'm sad that I decided not to go. I opted to go to a mini family reunion later this month instead, and I know that was the right choice, but I'm feeling left out of the fun this weekend! Facebook has been amazing though and I feel like I've reconnected with several of those friends but it's not the same as being there. Hope you guys have a fabulous time in J'town this weekend. Without me. Boo hoo.

Tonight, we're having dinner with a good friend of ours. We've known Lane for several years, but she got married last spring and we haven't had much opportunity to get to know her husband. Very excited to spend the evening with them! It's a kid-free evening too. Will is going to his best bud's house, and the girls are going to their best friends' house (their friends are sisters--how perfect is that?) so John and I are going to enjoy our time alone. I'm so thankful for good friends who love having my kids over! We really have some amazing friends here in Colorado.

Even though the price of gas is coming down I still try to combine all my errands into the same trip. Especially when I have to make the trek into Co Springs. That's where we're heading for dinner tonight. So...I just loaded up all my recycling so I can run it by the drop off center. We got really serious about recycling at the beginning of the summer and honestly, it's changed my life. I find myself cringing at the stuff people throw away these days. I was at a Pampered Chef party last week (two, actually) and opened the trash to throw away my plate and was sooooooo tempted to pull some stuff our of their garbage. I even bring the trash from our Brownie meetings home just so I can recycle it. I know, I know, it's pathetic, but what can I say, I'm hooked.

Three weeks ago I dropped off a huge load of recycling...and three weeks later, this is how much I have. Incredible, huh?

Hope you have a great weekend!

Yep. That was random.
Cute hair. Cute dish towels. And our curbside recycling bins always overflow by the end of 2 weeks. It ha=elps that we have started laying a fire in the mornings and evenings- the paper goes there now.

My stylist's name is Rachel and she rocks too. I hadn't had a good cut since moving here in 04 until I started seeing her this summer.

Love the towels! May have to try them since I am having the same problems w/mine.

Enjoy your weekend!

And I love flannel sheets in cold weather.

Darling haircut!
I've had the hardest time finding absorbent dish towels as well. What is up with that? I like cute things, but towels are supposed to DRY things!
I think I'll be switching us over to our fannel sheets this weekend as well. It's cold here today!
Have a great weekend.

Hi! I don't think I've commented here before, but I do read from time to time. I like your fresh, honest, perspective and it is always fun to find bloggers in your own region.

We love recycling, too! Once you start it seems it becomes addictive.

Good for you hiking Pikes Peak! That's been on my mind for a few years so maybe I'll need to get training and make it happen next summer. If you are still on the lookout for hiking shoes you may want to consider Lands' End. Their quality always impresses me and I love that I can return at Sears if I need to and that they guarantee everything and accept returns for any reason. I just got some in the mail tonight for $25 and they feel great.

Have a great weekend!

This is an example of posts that I really enjoy - just full of stuff.

Love your hair! I may have to go to Food network and order some dish towels - pretty colors. Looking forward to hearing if y'all get snow.

Have a wonderful weekend with your family!!

BTW- this post did not show up in my bloglines either.

Glad you're able to have productive Friday. Your hair looks very chic!
We try to recycle as much as we can. It amazes me how much we can accumulate.
Have a great weekend.
God bless,
Brenda :)

LOVE the haircut. Makes me want to go for long layers when mine grows out some more.

Yay for recycling. Wish we had it here in Mozambique. I guess in a way we do.....people go through my garbage on the street (where we actually have garbage pick up) and take what they want. Then when it gets to the dump, there are people that LIVE THERE and all they do is sift through garbage. Looking for useful items, food, etc. Sad, isn't it? So I feel like when I throw something away someone down the line will use it again.

hey friend!

I think it's so sweet your Mom left you a comment!!!

Your hair is very sassy and I love it...I am DESPERATE for a haircut myself but why am I attached to this mop???

Love the towels, too, I tell my hubby all the time after a certain number of years of marriage--you oughta get another shower!!!

I am with you on the recycling thing...I love that you flattened the boxes...I hadn't thought of it (silly, I know) since I've mainly done plastic, glass, etc. but now I will... :)

Your weekend sounds lovely...relish it!!

The hair is fantastic...definitely sassy!

I'm curious...how much is your gas now in Colorado? It keeps coming down here as well, but I'm with you...I still try to jam as many errands into one trip that I can.

Love your hair, it's so cute! I'm really starting to love my hair the more I fix it. I also have a wonderful stylist and it's such a treat to go get my hair cut.

LOVE LOVE LOVE your new haircut. I know what you mean about nonabsorbant dish towels. Those are super cute. I'll be checking those out. It's still really hot here! 30's and flannel sheets sounds great!

Love the haircut! And you are so right about the nonabsorbent dishtowels. What is the deal with that? But the recycling...I know it's a good thing but I just can't go there. I've been totally turned off by the tree-hugging, polar bear-saving, mankind-hating environmental whacko liberal moonbats.

Your hair looks adorable! And my dishtowels are 8.5 years old and very shameful! I love your new ones....I need to just "do it" and get some myself!
Hope you had a good weekend, Mer!

Your hair is very sassy and way cute! Love it! How perfect for a dinner out on the town!!

I LOVE Kohl's flannel sheets. They're the only ones I buy! I also have the same Food Network kitchen towels but in white. They were on clearance so I chose the boring ones!

I didn't realize how spoiled we are to have curb side pick up for our recycling. It comes every other week which causes me to complain. I'll stop that now!

You don't need a catchy title with a swingy new, sassy new, sexy new 'do like that one! And you even had a dinner for the wearing of the new hair. Excellent.

Lurve flannel sheets. I've never seen the food network towels. I'll have to look. I also love plain white bar towels and flour sack cloth because they're absorbent; but not cute. Definitely not the cute factor at all.

Yeah, we have curb-side pick up, too. Guess I will be extra thankful for that this week. :)

That IS some sassy hair. That hair is just asking to be taken out on a date. I like it - can't wait to see it!

Why does Colorado make it such a pain to recycle? Or maybe I've just gotten lazy. Props to you for doin it though.

I'm feeling a little ADD after reading that post. ;)

Look at you go with your recycling!
I've never seen your hair look bad, but now it's super-cute.
Darn! I wish I'd known about that sale on sheets. I bought some out of desperation last year (or year before?) in a King, even though we have a Queen, and need a new set. Love flannel sheets! :)
