Checking in...

I have a quick minute to check in and so I thought I'd say hello and give you a quick update.

I'm in St. Louis. My dad opted to have his surgery here because he has two sisters that live here. It was a great move. The hospital and staff is wonderful, and it's been nice to have some extra family support, not to mention a cozy bed and home-cooked meals to come home to at night.

Surgery was on Tuesday, and my dad did really well. It was a LONG surgery (six hours) but the doc got all of his tumor and was pleased with the results. He was in ICU for 24 hours, but was moved to a room last night. I'm in his room now (he's sleeping) and I finally got the wireless internet connection to work!

My dad will be in the hospital for another week, but I fly home Saturday afternoon.

It's beautiful here today, but I had a phone call and an email telling me it was snowing at home.

Thanks for your prayers! I'll check in again when I have time.

I've been thinking about/praying for you and your family.

I know this was not a pleasure trip, but I've been praying that your trip would afford sweet talks and special time with your family.

I had a chance to fly home by myself to surprise my mom and dad last month. Please don't misunderstand, I love it when we're all together and I get to watch my parents revel in the joy of being grandparents, but it was nice having my mom and dad all to myself. We actually had uninterrupted conversations for a change.

I'm glad to hear your dad's in a room and doing well post-op. Thanks for taking the time to give us an update.

Glad your Dad's surgery went well and that you have eXtra support.

I love St. Louis! Don't know how far you are from the Arch or Botanical Gardens but either might provide a nice respite for you.

Yes, it is snowing here! It's almost 3pm now and it's AT LEAST been snowing constant since 9am. Very pretty!

Have a safe trip home and a healthy recovery for your dad.

I prayed for you this morning (in the shower, if you must know - it's my only alone time). So glad to hear that the surgery went well, and I know your dad is grateful for the company.

And I forgot to add - St. Louis is famous for its fried ravioli, and it's tasty. In case you get the munchies and the hospital food just isn't cutting it...

Oh, I'm so glad you got a chance to post an update and that he did so well in the surgery! Also wonderful that you have family around, I know it's so hard to just be in a hospital so much, night and day. Tell your dad we're all thinking of him and praying for him, and let us know how he's doing. Hope he gets out of the hospital on schedule and is recovering nicely :)

Rob and the girls and I lived in St. Louis for four years, Mer, so I know that this really is a nice time of year there.

Your Dad is in my prayers. It's wonderful news that they were able to remove the whole tumor. That's just a great start to his road to recovery.

Hopefully, he'll have a fast recovery and feel really good for Christmas. I know you're so thankful that you're there with him and able to be with family too.

You're all in my prayers.
