Staggering Stats

Alternate Title: Evidently this is a weather blog

Alternate Title: I Kid You Not

Alternate Title: Spring? Yeah right.

Alternate Title: Thinking of moving to_______, CO? I might know of a house for sale.

If you've read my blog anytime during the month of April, you know that it was a snowy month. It's weird, but it's normal.

I just came in from checking the mail. Given my OCD tendencies, it's surprising that I'm not a check-the-mail-every-day kind of girl, but I'm not. Anyway, I spotted the May edition of our local community newspaper in the stack of mail and I anxiously flipped through it until I found my favorite part--the monthly weather wrap feature. A local meteorologist writes an article listing all the weather statistics from the previous month, and I find it highly interesting. So interesting, in fact, that I thought I'd share it here.

Ready for these April stats?

High temp (April 23): 73 degrees
Low temp (April 6): 2 degrees (that's quite a span, huh?)

Monthly snowfall: 54.9 inches

Let me say that again. 54.9 inches. In April.

Our snow is measured from July 1-June 30. Our season to date snowfall is 131.9 inches which means that more than thirty percent of that snow fell in APRIL.

Isn't that crazy??????????

I cannot even fathom that much snow all in one place. I almost feel like I should send you on my next Caribbean vacation.

Almost.

Holy cow! That's a lot of snow.

You make me laugh, what with all your weather-ology and stuff. I love that you look foward to the weather statistics!

I believe it. I also believe that at times, it feels like all 55 inches have fallen at once. Well, that's practically the case.

Great job with finishing up on your project despite the crazy weather. There's a beach house for sale on Whidbey with your name on it. Or several on my block on the "mainland". Take your pick.

Though then, you'd be blogging about rain.

Miso soddy.

Holy smokes, that much snow? Seriously?! Gee whiz. You are totally given whine freebies for that...

And I'm not a check-the-mail-everyday-kind-of-girl either. Unless it's email...but that's different!!! :)

If April showers bring May flowers, then what does April snow bring?

That's just crazy!!!

Being a fellow weather geek, this FASCINATES me.

Being someone who's always considering a move to Colorado, I'm gong to pretend I didn't read it.

Yes, but our grass is very green!

And I think there is much to be said for appreciating spring so much more for all the difficult weather days. I am noticing the smallest of spring-ish details.

OH! And did you know there are goslings at the library? We saw them with their Mama and Daddy today swiiming. VERY Cute!

I think snow in spring is just wrong! Rain yes but somehow snow just keep you in winter mode! Hope you'll be seeing signs of lasting spring soon!

Just think, you could move just a few miles in almost any direction and have little or no snow. :-/

We're waterlogged here but hoping Monday is a sunny day, then Tuesday we're forecast to have heavy thunderstorms again. Ugh!

Have a good week, Mer. :o)

Love and hugs,

Diane

I think you make a really cute weather girl. You need to stand in front of a blue screen with a pointer.

I think CPQ should give you her Caribbean vacation!

WOW at the snow! My goodness! Weather is certainly one crazy, unpredictable thing!!! I don't think I've seen as much snow in my life as what you guys have seen in April.

I did find it amusing that while you were counting the inches of snowfall...I was soaking up rays in the pool...although it really was a bit chilly to be swimming..I can say I did it!

Hoping you have warmer temps headed your way soon!!

I cannot wrap my mind around that...WOW!!!

In happier news...congratulations for getting your project done :)!

I agree with Michele, in my lifetime I haven't seen 54+ inches of snow!

We'll hit you with some humidity/ heat stats in summer though to blow your mind, okay?! :)

It's like we live in different states. We got so little snow here it isn't funny. What a weird winter/spring. What a weird state. And the house around the corner is for sale.
