Day trip to Cripple Creek

We drove to Cripple Creek today to see the golden aspens and we were not at all disappointed. It's always a beautiful drive, but this time of year it is stunning! Here are some pics we took along the way.

WOW!!! Those leaves are amazing! We won't see rich color until LATE October and early November. I love the pic of the kids around the trunks of the trees with the leaves all around....presh!!

Um, okay, did I not confess to you my ridiculous sweet tooth and my affair with a bag of shlouble schlippers (name changed to protect the innocent)??? Now this before my eyes in my already weakened state?? ;)

AH, one of my fave treats EVER--a dipped cone!! And my fave way to top off a great day with family!!! Looks like a wonderful trip!!!

Great pictures, Mer!

The leaves are beginning to change here in the North Georgia Mountains, but I don't think they are going to be as colorful this year. We are still struggling through the drought....

I love this time of year! The Apple Festival cranks up next weekend. After all Ellijay is the apple capitol of Georgia!

It looks like you all had a wonderful time...

Hugs,
Julie

Oh how I want to see the Aspens in the fall! What road did you take up to Cripple Creek? Gold Camp? Old Stage? My son worked at a camp off Old Stage Road last summer. Bear Trap Ranch. Did you see the sign? I love the mountains!!

And this is why I miss CO so much. Thanks for the taste of home.

I give your family so much credit, Mer--not a grimace in any of the photos. That must just be an argument that Mom wins. :)

At any rate, I saw several Christmas card possibilities...

Gorgeous.

We drove to Cripple Creek a few weeks ago too when the leaves were just starting to turn. It was absolutely gorgeous as are your pictures. My husband said the next week is was bumper to bumper traffic up that way as people were driving that way to see the leaves. Wow!

We loved the views on our drive to Cripple Creek. Wish we could have seen the yellow leaves falling from the aspens. Great pictures - thanks for sharing.

GORGEOUS! (Or as my girls would say, "GROW-JUS!") We're so lucky to live here. I'm a little bummed that we were in California for the peak of color, but I'm hoping to get out tomorrow and this weekend to catch the tail end of it. I just loooove this time of year!
