One Thousand

Good Monday morning!

This is my 1000th blog post.

I wanted to do something fun to celebrate and when Kellie mentioned a couple weeks ago that she was nearing 1000 posts too, we decided to throw a blog party. (Honestly, I have no idea what a blog party is but it sounds fun, doesn't it).

My favorite kind of parties include presents, so in honor of 1000 posts I'm giving away one thousand pennies in the form of a $10 gift card to a store of your choice.

Seriously, if you're the winner of this giveway, then you'll get to choose where you want to shop. You could pick iTunes and download A Thousand Hallelujahs by March Roach, or my personal favorite A Thousand Miles by Vanessa Carlton. Or you could choose Amazon and order A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini. Or you could choose something like Five Guys Burgers and Fries and use your gift card to order a fabulous burger|fry combo thousand calories. Really, it's totally up to you.

I'm also giving away a set of custom scripture cards like these (below) that Amber made for me a couple years ago. I've never tried to make them before so they might not turn out as cute as hers did, but I need a good Spring Break project and I love my set. I keep them in my kitchen and flip through them daily.

How do you enter the drawing for these two prizes?

Well, I'm so glad you asked.

1. If you know me in real life, I want you to leave me a comment sharing a fun|funny memory or tidbit about me. The funnier, the better; I want to laugh this week. (And some of y'all have some good dirt on me.)

2. If we've become friends through this blog, then leave a comment telling me how you happened upon Lifeat7000Feet and estimate how many of my 1000 posts you've suffered through read.

3. If you've NEVER commented before, what are you waiting for? De-lurk and say hello. I promise I won't bite!

I'll choose two winners (one for the gift card, and one for the scripture cards) on Thursday night.

Please visit Kellie's blog today and congratulate her on 1000 posts! Her party is going on all week long!!!

Congratulations! Wow - 1,000 posts seems like a lot. I found your blog through 'With all that I've been Given' via 'The Homespun Heart'. :) I love reading Christian mother blogs, and I'm a fellow Coloradan, although I'm further north. Even if I don't win them, I would love to hear more about the prayer cards and how to make them. I think they would be wonderful to keep near me. We are on spring break this week, so I'll be sewing, but I think that would be a neat project also. Hmmm... A neat item to make and put in my daughter's Easter baskets, too!

Happy 1000!

I don't remember who I found your blog from but I remember seeing it on the side of someone elses. I was so intrigued by the name. 7000 feet? I wanted to know what life was like for someone living in such a different place. Turns out our lives don't seem that different after all. I have enjoyed getting to know you and your family and how you honor God in your everydayness. Love those scripture cards, what a great gift.

I think we met through comments on Beth Moore's blog. As I recall we connected over being native Arkansans living over a THOUSAND miles from home and having given a THOUSAND (times 15 or 20) dollars to OBU for educations we now use as stay-at-home moms.

Congratulations on 1000 posts! That's quite an accomplishment.

Mer,

Wow--1000 posts! I know I've been reading for at least a couple years, so not sure how many posts that entails? I'll take a (wild) guess and say 586. =)

I'm privileged to have met you through blogging and have enjoyed getting to hang out with you twice!

I'm pretty sure I found you thru the Carpool Queen and I've read 237, carry the 4, divide by ... oh, well, a lot of your posts. Maybe even all of them, although that might be considered a little stalkerish since I only came across this blogs a few months ago. Anyway, congratulations on your 1000th post. I'm glad you're here.

Meredith, I first met you in college. I don't have any dirt to share but I always remember you as a kind, friendly person on campus! Years later, my parents & your in-laws became friends so I kept up with your family before discovering your blog. Congratulations on 1000 posts! I love reading! :-)

Let's see, we've known each other since college, but we've spoken more now than we ever did then.

Funny story? I crushed on your boyfriend in college. As did every other girl on campus.

Congratulations on 1,000, and I'm so glad this little thing called social media got us back together.

Many hugs, and best wishes for a thousand more.

I've started reading recently...I think since Christmas. I found your blog through Carpool Queen and Whimzie.

So glad for your 1000th post!

Hmm... I think I found you through Kelly Stamp's blog, but then I realized that I went to your church in Arkadelphia when you and John were there! Not sure if we ever met in person though.

Weird thing: I dreamed that my family came to your house and spent the day with you last night. It was one of those dreams where nothing unusual happens but it feels SO real. I half expected to have a message from you this morning. ;)

Congrats on 1000!!

Happy 1000th post! So fun to celebrate with you! I met you when you won a giveaway on my blog nearly three years ago. Since then I've found that we have walked along many of the same paths, from seminary (at the same college, but at different times!) with our husbands to buying the same couch, and many things in between (a little germ-o-phobia?).

So glad to share in our 1000th together...its always more fun to party with others than alone!

Congrats on 1000 posts! I'm a blogger friend...and I started following one time when you did a 10 on the 10th, from Melissa from A Familiar Path. I haven't been "suffering" through your post very long, ha ha...

I have sure enjoyed your blog since finding it back when you first started blogging. Ran across a comment you had made about being from Ar and realized that I lived close to your family. I have read hundreds of your post and enjoy them all. Keep it up!

Congrats on 1000! I found your blog through Kelly's Korner, I think.

And I've been reading for maybe 2 years? So how many posts is that? A lot! So much so that I feel like I know you and think our girls would be friends. ha! And I'm thinking if we were real life friends I'd be in better shape because I'd be going hiking with you! ha! And then stop off for coffee of course!

Lori said...

Hello! I found you via Kellie's blog. 1000 posts is a big milestone, and I'm looking forward to perusing your blog more!

Have a fun week!

i met you in the blogosphere 2 years ago (i think) when you commented on some pics i had taken on a trip out west.

i have been reading ever since, and even got the privilege of mtg you when we were vacationing in your area.

congrats on 1000 posts! what a feat!

I LOVE those scripture cards. If only I could be so lucky. I'm not ususally a big winner. CPQ helped me kinda cheat one time, but that's the only time I've ever won anything. Maybe this time I'll come by it honestly. :)

HAPPY 1000!

We both de-Lurked on Infarrantly creative the same day. Shrinky dinks, was it? So I had to come see who you were.
Along the way I discovered that you and I have birthdays swparated by mere hours, and we would both rather have a costco sized bag of Hot Tamales than all the chocolate in the world.
We both have kids the same ages and sexes- except I squeezed in a couple more- and you come across as much more sane!
I have gone back to lurking on Beckies sight, but I am glad you and I are "friends".

Melissa said...

Oh, your 1,000th post came on my birthday (and NOT my 1,000th birthday...thankyouverymuch!)

I "met" you through Joanne, if I remember correctly. And I'm so glad I did!

BTW - I showed my girl the water bottle, who declared she'd be the subject of much mockery for drinking from a sippy cup. I thought it was adorable...but I'm just a mom.

Wow! A 1000 posts (I had to look at my own and I'm only on 360)...anywho, I have no idea how I stumbled upon you, but I'm certainly better for it! You're an amazing inspiration and I think its kinda neat that you're originally from my neck of the woods.

Keep on blogging!!

Mmm, girl, I love a good party! And 1000 candles is a par-tay!!! Way to go!

Let's see, I met you through CPQ. I would guess I've read about 8 months worth of your posts, so that would be about...
um, I'm no good at math, but it's enough to know that we'd be good IRL friends.
HUGS!!!

Oh, what fun! Congratulations on 1000 posts! I cannot remember when I started reading, but it was a LONG time ago. And I'm happy to say I have never 'suffered through' anything you have ever written. I think you are brilliant, funny and beautiful. Can't wait to read 1000 more!

Those are some great prizes - the scripture cards would be an absolute treasure. What a neat idea!

I knew who you were when we were in college but I can't honestly ever remember having a conversation with you during that time.

I'm thankful the WWW brought you back into my life... First Facebook and now the blogiverse. We've certainly made up for the conversations we missed out on then and I'm looking forward to many more in the future....Maybe even face to face before your 2000th post?

Congrats on 1000 posts!

I found you through 'The Simple Wife' (I went to college with Joanne.) I have been reading for about 2 years, which equals how many posts?

Meredith, I think the funniest memory I have with you is discovering we lived in the same town...after reading one another's blogs and then emailing back and forth. I can remember writing to you, "Where do you live?" And it was such a delightful surprise!! I am thankful to call you friend.

Will you show me how to make the cards? I'd like to make some as gifts.

Angie @ Flibbertigibberish said...

1000! That will take me forever! (Although I've picked up the pace, so maybe I'm only another 7 years out from it.)

Well, I know you in real life BECAUSE of your blog! But we haven't hung out enough in real life to have a fun memory to share. Can that change, please? I do know that everytime we hang out, I want more! Oh! And I remember at lunch at Joanne's that first time, Abbey made the cutest place cards for each of us. I thought it was such a thoughtful thing and such a sweet reflection of you. You're SUCH a great mom.

Congratulations, my friend!

Jackie said...

Congrats on 1000, Mer! That's incredible. :)

Hmmm...I don't remember how I happened up on your blog exactly, but I've been reading you for quite a while...and I read every one of your posts in my reader, even if I don't always make it over to comment.

Congrats!!

How exciting. I hit 100 not long ago...so 1000 sounds daunting! way to go.

I don't remember how I found you--I think through my mom...and was interested because you live in my neck of the woods. However, I think we have more in common than that--and know one of these days we'll meet. :0)

Congrats on your 1000 post!

Michele said...

I honestly have no idea how I found your blog! I've been reading every post for a few years, so I'd guess I've read around 500 (at least)! I love your blog!

Gretchen said...

Great party, my friend! It celebrates two of my favorite people. I think the most endearing/sick thing I know about you is that you told me you vacuum every day. Because of Jack. And I have to say, I thought it was all kinds of cute that you tried to be happy for Kellie's girl keeping Penny in her room. Good game face. :)

My favorite memory is meeting you for the first time and then being so lucky to meet again. It was so special to me to share my old stomping grounds in CR with you. And you were driving, so that was a plus.

I estimate I've been reading for 2.5 years or so. Prolly 600ish posts.

Sami said...

I found you through CarpoolQueen herself. And we found each other through Whimzie...whom I indeed know in real life. So I think that makes me a little bit cooler than just a blog lurker :) As am old newlywed who has yet to have children, I LOVE that I can see the day to day lives of Godly women and mothers!

Kathy said...

Hi, Mer! I've known you since freshman year of college, and I just thought of such a funny memory! Do you remember when you and John went to visit your family one weekend and had car trouble on the way back to campus? You called the floor, and I just happened to be there. So Cathy S. and I hopped in my car and drove to the rescue--JJ's truck stop, was it? (It was somewhere near the "Friendship" exit, I think...how appropriate.) We were more than happy to embark on the mission of mercy. Imagine our surprise as we pulled into the parking lot, and there amidst the collection of 18 wheelers sat you and John--kissing in the front seat of his car! Y'all were so "low profile" as a campus couple, so I wonder if this might possibly be the only PDA ever witnessed until the kiss at the altar on your wedding day! Ha!

Your friendship was and is a blessing, Mer. Many, many (a thousand, even) congratulations on 1000 posts!

John said...

Kathy, if I recall correctly, Meredith and I were sitting in the front seat of her car reading the Greek New Testament, no doubt discussing the authorship of the book of Hebrews...I'm really not sure who you saw kissing...but thanks for rescuing us nonetheless!

Becky said...

Hey Mer! First met you when we moved back to Arkadelphia & joined SBC. There are too many fun memories to share & most of the funniest seem to be at my expense not yours!!

One of my favorites was after the staff at SBC (which included both our husbands) had meet w/an older SS class to "discuss" the music. Next mornning an OBU singing group was performing in church. I can't remember the name of that 1st song but it was VERY comtemporary & upbeat. I remember us just looking at each other & laughing out loud in the middle of church which quickly turned into non-stop giggles as people began to look at us like we had lost it! God's sense of humor was priceless that day. :)

I also started reading this blog before you were Ms. Life @ 7000 Ft. I've probably read 925+ posts!

Blessings today!

Congrats on the 1000!! Wahoo!!

I still remember us being hugely and enormously pregnant together wtih Sawyer and Abbey. And extremely hormonal!!! :)

I remember a girls' night out that we had at church and we were all loading up to go eat at The Burger Barn. Stephanie still had her little red Bug, and we were going to somehow cram ourselves into that car....with you and I huge and pregnant.

I totally stuck my foot in my mouth and said, "Mer, I'll get in the back because you're bigger than me."

There was a collective gasp from everyone in the car, and then I spent the rest of the time apologizing for being such an idiot.

I totally blame it on hormones. :)

LOVE YOU MUCH, FRIEND!!

Hm, well, since I've only met you IRL two times, both times were really fun but not funny - you know?! I did drive you and Sarah over to her little friend's house and got to have left-over birthday cake, remember? But just being in your home, that was really special. (Who woulda thought?!)

1,000 - that's a lot!! :) I think I'm around 820...

How FUN!!! I am so glad I get to come to your party!! Congrats on 1000 posts- and great ones at that!!

Let's see my fun story would be hhmmmmm.... When we all dressed up as the Wizard of OZ for halloween!!ha!! You (tin man), Leslie (Dorothy), Shannon (lion), Me (scarecrow)

You were the TIN MAN!!! I can remember you great costume of a silver spray painted box- and your arms were those round odd things you use for a dyer vent it think? HA! And I have no clue what the hat was...but I am thinking we talked about a FUNNEL!!??!!

But I can remember you trying to turn around and look behind you in the pew...it was a challange in itself.

I look back now and think you poor thing- we all had easy costumes- and you the one who had kids to chase was wearing a HUGE BOX!! For that I am sorry!!!

And YES I DO HAVE PICTURES if you need them!! LOL!!!

Will & Sarah were blues clues...blue & pink!! TOO CUTE!!

Oh the good ole' days of South Arkansas!!

Hi Mer,
I think I've read every.single.post. Does that make me a really good friend or someone who is a bit obsessive (not obsessed, just a little OCD!)? Granted, I read the earliest ones some months after they were posted.

Memories... 1) our daily escapes from our closed campus H.S. to "sell ads" for the year book; or 2) our brief life of petty crime ("M", "S" & "B"; the copy of Declaration of Independence that -might- have an additional signature or two)

Love you & love keeping up with your sweet family via your blog!

Congrats on your milestone!
