Oh, so that's how this works...

Our district canceled school for today because of blowing snow and a high temp hovering somewhere around 10 degrees.

I LOVE snow days. They are one of my absolute most favorite things in the world. But until this morning, I'd given up any hope of ever having one again. That's because our district has been pretty stingy with them this year, having only allowed us one. I can't tell you how many times since October I've gone to bed at obscene hours *just knowing* we were going to have a snow day or a 2-hour weather delay, only to awaken and find no closures or delays scrolling across the bottom of my television screen. Arghh! More than a few times, I've been angry at our administration for making me have to drive on icy roads. I complained last week to the secretary at my kids' school, and she rolled her eyes and said, "Meredith, we live in Colorado. This is life." I guess. But I still prefer snow days.

I knew snow was coming last night, but I refused to believe in any possibility of closure or delay for today. I helped the kids get their things completely ready for school, and I went to bed on time. Maybe that's how this is works because I woke up to see we had a delay, which was later upgraded to a closure. Yippee!

way to rejoice in what could be otherwise construed as an inconvenience!

School let out here for basically nothing. I think we got about 2inches. By lunch everything on the roads was melted. It really was ridiculous.

You'll be glad you haven't had so many snow days when school lets out on time in May (schools around here go until the middle of JUNE! because they get out for everything!).

I pray for snow days! My husband's office is at a University and our city issues "parking bans" which then mean his office is closed! So, no kids in school--but its GREAT having him home!!!! Living near Stephanie in RI, he was home Monday for really no snow--but I am not complaining!

I'm a Southern girl, too, and was totally amazed the whole 4 years we lived in MT, there was not one single snow day. Watch, now that we're in VA, we'll get snow days every year!

Mer, We got snow today. We couldn't believe it. The night before we are to take Hannah to the airport.
The predictions of ice/snow were so bad for overnight that we packed everyone up and headed south to spend the night in Atlanta. So FINALLY the kids have snow and we had to leave it behind!

We get SO little snow in Georgia that when it hits EVERYONE is so excited...BUT life shuts down, as not many know how to drive in it. Plus we usually have the ice underneath.

I am glad you got a snow day with the kids!

In the 4 years Jessica went to school in Idaho, we had one snow day. And it wasn't because of the snow, but because the power went out and there was no heat. But they built some great snowmen on the playground! We spent last year in Conway, Arkansas, and they cancelled school for half inch of snow--remember how that works! But it was fun.
BTW, you know I was just kidding with my question, right?
